With the second phase of this year’s 360 programme just around the corner, 360 coaches from all across Wales came together this weekend, at Cardiff Metropolitan University, to share good practice and develop new ideas to implement at centres over the next few months.
After a morning spent designing practices, it was out on the pitch to bring the sessions to life, before an afternoon session focusing on ‘motivational climates’ lead by GB Hockey Coach Developer Demy Dowley.
Coach Developer for Wales, Lee Ible, was delighted to see so many coaches in attendance and the level of engagement on display.
Having these days where we get together as coaches are invaluable. Just being around like minded people and talking about coaching is of real benefit to our coaches. The interaction and engagement from everyone was great, with healthy debate and advice, which will only help us develop as a coaching group and will lead to even better quality environments for our aspiring players in the Welsh pathway.
Ible was also pleased to have input from Dowley and is happy with how the relationship with GB Coaching is developing.
We have been working closely with GB hockey for a number of years and in particular the coaching team. Having somebody of Demy’s expertise and experience coming across to Wales and delivering to our coaches is fantastic. Working together as GB Coaching can only benefit coaches in Wales, as it gives us access to world class resources and opportunities which can only have a positive impact on the sport in Wales.
The 360 programme recommences next Sunday, January 27th, across all 6 venues. The programme continues to show its impact with many players progressing through the pathway and going on to gain senior representative honours and GB recognition. With the coaching offer ever improving, the programme will continue to go from strength to strength and give more players the environment to develop to their full potential.
