Safeguarding - policy and guideline review and consultation
As the National Governing Body for hockey in Wales, it is the responsibility of Hockey Wales (HW) to ensure that children of any age are attracted to our sport. Each and every member has a duty of care to assist HW in ensuring that our sport is one that is considered to be a safe environment for all the family.
As previously indicated we are now at the next stage of the process, that of consulting with our clubs, associations and members with regard to our Safeguarding related policies, guidelines and templates. This process is all part of the nationally agreed 'standards' which, when achieved will ensure that our sport is safe for all children to participate.
Although the number and scope of the policies, guidelines and templates appears daunting any feedback that you can provide would be gratefully appreciated so as to ensure that all sectors of our sport are represented. The information has already been emailed to a large cross-section within HW but the more feedback received, the better the final product!
You will note that the templates, in particular, have been compiled on the basis that clubs and associations will be able to personalise them when the final documents (in Word format) are issued.
Once this latest consultation process has been completed further information will be rolled out to all clubs and associations.
