The opening games of the EuroHockey Championship II saw great success as Wales men took home a 2-1 win against Czech Republic. With goals from Gareth Furlong and James Kyriakides the team will next face Switzerland tomorrow.

Wales women delivered a phenomenal result; handing a 6-1 defeat to Austria. With an opening goal from Tina Evans who also received recognition for her 100th cap this evening; the game went from strength to strength; with the half time score at 4-1. Tash Marke-Jones deposited two goals for the team; alongside other fellow goal scorers Lisa Daley, Leah Wilkinson and Danni Jordan; no doubt offering a confident start to their game against Poland on Tuesday.

Congratulations to Sophie Clayton who picked up her 50th cap at the start of the game.

What a great way to kick off the championship!
