Junior sections in Montgomeryshire Hockey Clubs are growing in number
The North Powys Badgers League has branched out to accommodate younger players in U-11 and U-14 age groups in a hockey festival at Maldwyn Leisure Centre, Newtown, Powys. This is down to an increase in junior membership at local clubs. The Badgers B Festival is held at Maldwyn LC once a month, with now over 100 young boys and girls attending, playing 7 a side half pitch games. Teams attend from all over Montgomeryshire including Welshpool, Llanfair, Newtown, Llanidloes & even as far as Tywyn.
In the New Year a competitive tournament will be held for these age groups, with 2012/13 season seeing festivals up to 2 or 3 times a month, with hopes of setting up a separate junior boys section.
