Maldwyn Leisure Centre hosted the North Powys Zone Final of the Activate Competition this week, with 8 Schools competing for a place in the National Finals, namely Guilsfield, Montgomery, Llanidloes, Ysgol Dyffryn Trannon, Trewern, Llanfair, Llaneryl, and St Michael's. The semi-final saw Guilsfield beat Montgomery 1-0 and Llanidloes beat local rivals Ysgol Dyffryn Trannon 1-0. The final saw Llanidloes score first then Guilsfield came back with a brace making the final score 2-1. Llanidloes played very well, but Guilsfield were the strongest in the end. Guilsfield CP School will now go through to the finals on Friday 30th March 11.00-15.00pm at Maldwyn Leisure Centre, along with the winners from South Powys Finalists which is being played this Friday.

Maldwyn will host the largest national hockey tournament for the U11 age group, with 11 school teams from all over Wales competing for the title.
