Cardiff & UWIC and Whitchurch both get hit for 6

Both Welsh clubs suffered heavy defeats with Cardiff & UWIC going down to Old Georgians 1-6 and Whitchurch loosing 3-6 at Stourport. With both teams in the bottom 3 of the table, points against Bath Buccs and University of Birmingham respectively in their last matches next weekend before the mid-season break would be welcome.

Men's Welsh Cup

With both Rhyl & Northop Hall conceding their matches against Whitchurch and Cardiff & UWIC respectively, it was left to Swansea University to create the shock of the round when they beat Swansea Bay 3-1.  Despite the University being reduced to 8 players at one time and the 'Bay' having numerous short corners, they could not convert the chances and the students will join Bangor University (who beat their fellow academics from Aberystwyth 5-2), Bridgend, Cardiff Medicals, Cardiff University and Newport as well as the two National League big guns in the Quarter Finals.

Eira, a member of Penarth Ladies HC, represented Wales at Senior level on many occasions with the highlight being the 1-0 victory over England at Wembley in 1963. She held many positions within WWHA including International match Secretary and Council member and was elected as a Life Member upon the formation of the WHU.
