We’re thrilled to announce Ria Male, Head of Development for Hockey Wales has been appointed as a member of the EHF Development & Education Projects Committee. After a successful nomination from Hockey Wales; supported by both GB Hockey and UK Sport, Ria is already proving to be an instrumental addition to the team.
Through Ria’s determination to change lives through the power of sport, she’s already working tirelessly towards ensuring the committee’s focus of ‘more people experiencing hockey across Europe’ is achieved. Alongside some of her colleagues in Wales, she’s helping shape the future of the new Para Hockey Pathway. The first of its kind in Wales.
As a former international goalkeeper for Wales, ex Hockey Wales Board Director and qualified teacher, Ria was perfectly placed to join the committee. Her past experiences partnered with her current role as Head of Development has given Ria an in-depth understanding of the requirements needed to join the Committee.
Sharing her excitement around the new position, Ria said:
It’s an honour to be recognised like this by Hockey Wales, GB Hockey and UK Sport. I’m excited to be part of a committee that is driven to improve participation, standards, enjoyment and community involvement for all, through the delivery of a range of projects. This will be a great opportunity for me to learn and bring good practice back to Wales, along with having an impact and supporting all member nations, and emerging nations of our hockey family.
Hockey Wales CEO, David Phenis:
We are delighted with Ria’s appointment and know with her incredible passion for the sport she loves will make a valuable contribution to the development of hockey across Europe and bring any learning back to Wales
