Initiatives

As the traditional season comes to an end, we begin to prepare for Hockey Wales’ summer programme of which a mainstay is the Hockey Wales Summer 7s.

For 2019, Hockey Wales’ Summer 7’s is being played across more sites than ever before. This time around 7 really does mean SEVEN! We now have 7 established sites throughout the country, allowing us to bring events to every single region of Wales in the hope to engage more members (and non-members) than ever before.

Still fairly young in hockey terms, the Summer 7s was formed in 2017 after a consultation process was undertaken with member clubs in North Wales who expressed that there wasn’t enough for them to do once the traditional season closes. That Summer we ran the North Wales Men’s Summer 7s which was a resounding success.

We appreciate the value that it provides for our clubs- allowing them to remain active throughout the Summer months (albeit not as vigorously as the league season), but it also provides an invaluable opportunity for new people to try our sport.

The format of the events is very much participation focussed, we encourage clubs to join together to put teams forward for the events and we aim to keep it as affordable as possible- never going above the price of £25 per team which consists of a maximum of 10 players.

HERE you can access an FAQ booklet which gives you a lot more information about the Hockey Wales.
