Bath Buccaneers 2 v 2 Swansea City

Spartans travelled to Bath on the back of 4 straight wins since Christmas hoping to continue the winning run. However, with Bath fighting for their National League survival, it was always going to be a difficult task.

Bath started the game with intent putting Swansea under pressure in their defending half. After a difficult opening period, Swansea started to exert themselves in the game. A well-executed corner, finished by Beth Fisher after 16 minutes, saw the Spartans take a 1-0 lead into half-time.

Bath came out fighting at the start of the 2nd half; and found an equaliser off a short corner scored by Vikki Warwick. Although not as fluent as previous weeks, Swansea created chances, which led to the their 2nd goal, a deflection from Carys Gordon off a well found pass from Izzy Webb after 49 minutes.

Swansea had chances to further extend their lead but failed to capitalise. In a tense final 10 minutes, a battling Bath side found an equaliser off a short corner by Tess Hannah in the last 3 minutes.

Final score 2-2.

The Spartans left feeling frustrated knowing they had chances to win the game but ultimately didn’t manage the final moments of the game well enough. Other results mean that Swansea remains 3 points off the top with 3 games to play.

Next week the Spartan’s have a double header when they play their first opponents Olten & West Warwicks at KGV pushback 12:00. They then travel to Gloucester on the Sunday for a re-arranged fixture pushback 12:30.
