Performance

In preparation for their upcoming European competition later this year in July 2019, the U21 Women headed to Glasgow to take on Scotland U21 on their home turf.

Head coach, Abdo, knew this would be a tough test against a strong Scotland side, but the grit and determination in performance from the Welsh led them to a series win, after running out a huge 5-1 win on the final day to take the series 2-0.

Following the series win, we spoke to Abdo:

To say I’m pleased is an understatement. To come here and get a series win is no easy feat. The ladies were excellent in every facet of the game over the three matches. It’s been a thoroughly enjoyable experience for the athletes and staff who had a lot of family willing them on through the three matches. It’s great to gain momentum and confidence going into our Europeans in a couple of months

  • Game 1 (Friday 19th April) – Wales 4 – 3 Scotland
  • Game 2 (Saturday 20th April) – Wales 1 – 1 Scotland
  • Game 3 (Sunday 21st April) – Wales 5 – 1 Scotland

The girls will now regroup and continue to make progress as a squad moving towards their Euro Hockey Championships in Alanya, Turkey 14th – 20th July 2019.
