2020 OPENS IN STYLE
The new year started in style in Merthyr this weekend at the Hockey Wales National Indoor finals. The ten clubs qualified from their Regional rounds with the six qualifying Women’s sides meeting on the Saturday, followed on the Sunday by four Men’s sides.
The two days were packed full of high quality performances. Swansea Hockey Club retained the Women's National Indoor Title on the first day, followed by Cardiff & Met Hockey Club successfully defending their title in the Men's finals on day two.
Swansea won all their pool matches throughout the day to secure the title, with enormous help from top scorer of the tournament, Livvy Hoskins, who achieved a total of 18 goals.
On the final day of the tournament, Cardiff & Met Hockey Club retained the Men’s National Title. The round-robin competition saw the club convincingly win all their matches, ably assisted by top scorer of the day, Jack Valentine, who scored 10 of the 26 overall goals which helped to secure their title.
