CARDIFF & MET AIM FOR EURO GLORY!

This week Cardiff & Met take a break from English National League duties and jet off to Prague to compete in the EuroHockey Indoor Club Challenge I. The tournament commences on Friday 16th February, with Cardiff & Met who’ll be representing Wales; playing the opening match against Portuguese Champions AD Lousada . Last year Cardiff & Met finished 6th in the tournament after narrowly failing to qualify for the promotion pool on goal difference. The top two teams from Challenge I will be promoted to the EuroHockey Indoor Club Trophy.

Looking ahead to the tournament Head Coach for Cardiff & Met, Walid Abdo said:

Really excited about the potential of this young squad. I’m interested to see who copes with the transition from outdoor to indoor. Hopefully these young men can use this as a springboard for the rest of the season; for the club and for there own personal aspirations. It’s a tough tournament due to a lot of the teams here being indoor specialists, but I feel we have a competitive bunch who are up for the challenge

During the tournament Cardiff & Met will go up against some old adversaries, particularly HC OKS-SHVSM Vinnitsa (UKR) who beat them in their opening games in last year’s tournament in Hungary.
