#DoinALenny for Race for Life!
On Saturday 9 September, seven Wales O45s Womens hockey masters participated in the Race for Life. The event was ‘pretty mudder’ as you can see from the picture. Whilst the ladies were running for a variety of reasons, the event was especially close to home for one member of the O45s squad and one of the events participants.
Eluned Smith, was diagnosed with breast cancer last year. Following treatment, Eluned was finally given the all clear prior to the Masters European Hockey championships held in Tilburg, Netherlands in August. Hence the #DoinALenny in support of our team mate.
As a result of the ladies fund raising, they raised £1055.56 for Cancer Research. Donations can still be made via individual ‘Just Giving pages’.
Awesome team made up of: Jules Redfern, Pip Laugharne, Nici Gelder, Gaynor Jackson, Eluned Smith, Kathy Barclay and Katie Butler; also joined on the day by Vicky Sutton, who is a part of the Wales Masters coaching team.
