HOCKEY WALES WELCOMES NEW STAFF MEMBERS
Hockey Wales warmly welcomes new staff members to the organisation.
Kevin Johnson joins the team as Head of Pathway where he will also continue his role as Women’s Head Coach.
I’m very pleased to have been appointed as Head of Pathway and for having the opportunity and time to contribute also on a wider scale in Hockey Wales to that of my current position as senior women’s head coach. I hope to bring some important strategic context to the role from my senior coaching experience over the last three years with Wales and previous experience with GB and England Hockey pathways. I’m sure myself and the team will be fully committed to ensuring our Welsh Pathway aspires to be World Class and therefore produces the best opportunities for our players to progress, whether that ends up being at performance or participation level for an individual. This is an exciting time to be involved in the organisation with a good deal to celebrate about our hockey at this time at both club and International level. With so much potential coming through our junior ranks, I’m determined to make a positive contribution to ensure we get a steady supply of talent into our future senior men’s and women’s teams and then into Great Britain programmes in more numbers. Kevin Johnson, Head of Pathway
Kay Davies has taken the lead on Communications and Marketing for Hockey Wales.
Having worked as a sports broadcaster, I am passionate about how sports are represented, what content people should be seeing and how engaged we can be with fans. I’ve gone full circle in the hockey world over the years as I went from being a player, to a volunteer, coach and competition organiser to leading on Communications and Marketing for the organisation. I’m keen to work in such a thriving sports environment and I am excited to see how I can impact Hockey Wales’ coverage. Kay Davies, Communications and Marketing Lead
Gareth Furlong and Alice Gregory will be supporting Performance and Business respectively as administrators.
I started playing in my local hockey club when I was 7 and I instantly fell in love with the sport! I jumped at the opportunity to become a Silver YA 7 years ago and I have worked my way up to become a Platinum YA and Steering Group member, which led me to representing the Youth on the Hockey Wales Board of Directors. I’m so excited to work at Hockey Wales as Business Support Officer, alongside studying Sport Management at Cardiff Met University. I’m keen to see what the future holds for me with the organisation! Alice Gregory, Business Support Officer
I’m thrilled with the opportunity to help contribute to the ever-developing performance programme at Hockey Wales. I’m looking forward to helping to keep pushing performance hockey in Wales and I am intrigued to see it progress moving forward. Gareth Furlong, Performance Support Officer
Finally, we also introduce Gabby Doyle as the South East Club Development Officer.
Having grown up with a passion for sport, I am so happy to have joined the Hockey Wales team as their South East Club Development Officer. With the new strategy coming into effect very soon, I’m excited about the journey and I hope it will inspire a new generation of people to play our sport. I am passionate about making sure all children are physically literate and I look forward to playing a part in ensuring our sport is inclusive to all. Gabby Doyle, South East Club Development Officer
