Whilst it appears that this weekend was the last hockey we will see for a while, it proved fruitful for Wales’ top women’s side Swansea, as a win against third-place University of Durham saw them at the top of Investec Division 1 North.

Kathryn Mee put the Welsh outfit up after only two minutes of play from a penalty corner. Georgia Brownhill levelled the scoring for Durham shortly after the half time break, but Olivia Strickland’s 55’ minute field goal was decisive, giving Swansea all three points.

We will now wait and see what the outcome of the current period of suspension for the game will be, but it’s a great boost for everyone to see the Welsh side doing so well.
