THREE WALES CLUBS READY TO TAKE ON EUROHOCKEY COMPETITIONS
We’re delighted to announce that THREE Welsh clubs will be competing in their EuroHockey Club Challenge competitions this week.
With our Welsh clubs travelling all over Europe, it is Swansea Spartans who will be closest to home – they head to Edinburgh for the Challenge I competition and will initially face hosts Edinburgh University, Russian club side HC Metrostroy and Swiss hockey club Rottweiss Wettingen in Pool A. Carys Hopkins, from Swansea Spartans has said:
After a positive season we are really looking forward to travelling to Edinburgh for this year’s European campaign. If we can take our league form into this tournament, finishing top two in our group and having a shot at promotion is certainly a realistic aim. The team are really looking forward to the challenge.
The EuroHockey Club Challenge I Women in Edinburgh will be live-streamed, so tune in between 18/05/2018 – 21/05/2018 to catch all the action LIVE via https://www.eurohockeytv.org/
Whitchurch Hockey Club (Men) have started their EuroHockey Club Challenge II competition in Lipovci, Slovenia today. We managed to catch up with Rob Williams before they jetted off…
Personally, I’m looking forward to the competition, it’ll be my first time playing in Europe along with a handful of others within the team along with some veterans. We’ve put together some really good performances in the second half of the season and preparations have been going well. We will hopefully be looking to put in a few more big performances and hopefully get promoted back into Club Challenge I.
With a narrow 3-2 defeat to Croatian hockey club Zelina earlier today, they’ll be looking to show their bouncebackability in tomorrow’s game against their Turkish counterparts in the final Pool A game. The action draws to a close with the competitions final games on 20th May.
Last and by no means least are Cardiff University HC (Women), they travel to the Austrian capital Vienna for their EuroHockey Club Challenge III competition. Their opponents in Pool B feature Copenhagen HC, Portuguese side Grupo Desportivo do Viso and Croatian Zelina. Final games take place on 21st May with pool games played 18th – 20th May.
