With the U18 Girls EuroHockey Championships only 12 days away, today Head Coach, Gwyn Williams, has officially revealed the squad that’ll represent Wales in the B Division tournament due to be held in Rakovnik, Czech Republic.

Fresh from a tough and physical series against Ulster, which permitted the girls further preparation time, they head out with a deep sense of confidence; finding themselves back in B Division after claiming gold and promotion in the last European campaign.

Williams commented that the B Division will present many different challenges for the squad, and a stern test for these young athletes:

A European Championship is about performing at a consistent level and having the athletes peak both mentally and physically. Playing five matches in a week is extremely demanding but these players have demonstrated their own sense of resilience and look in good condition

With the added spice of their opening game being against fellow home nation Scotland and an after a close series in Easter the girls will be looking to start this campaign off with a positive performance, so players will need to be on top of their game. Wales will further come up against Russia and Lithuania in their pool matches.

Tournament hockey can be unpredictable, but we feel our brand of hockey will give us the necessary elements to perform and get some results. It’s an exciting time for these young athletes as they look to develop their learning from this experience and emulate the success they have witnessed of their senior hockey teams here in Wales in recent timesNAMECLUBEmma BrierleyColwyn BayJemima ReesCheltenhamLora ConstableDysynniTali SwinburneStourportEmily DrysdaleCheltenhamCari DaviesArdudwyMegan BowenWokingMillie WaltersYeovil & SherbourneCerys PrestonStourportSophie GormanWhitchurchLouise LoughlinCardiff & MetCatryn LangleySt AlbansKatie MulroyCardiff & MetNell ButlerCardiff & MetMaisie RileyGwentLily RobertsCardiff & MetJessica Hill
