Hooked on Hoci offers the opportunity for primary schools to experience high quality hockey for the first time and to ensure a sustainable programme is put in place so the sport exists in school long term.

The overall goal is for more children to have improved levels of physical literacy and physical activity with an affinity to hockey.

Now more than ever we need to ensure children stay active. Hockey Wales has created an adapted primary schools programme to ensure hockey for children across Wales can be delivered in a fun and safe environment.

PUTTING SCHOOL HOCKEY FIRST
It is great to hear members of our hockey family speak fondly of their school hockey experiences and how influential one key person was on their decision to pursue the sport for years to come.

So often, a teacher with a personal passion for hockey will be the influencing factor for a group of children to experience the sport who otherwise may never have done so. These children then go on to live a life committed to hockey, either through playing, coaching or officiating.

Unfortunately, in recent years hockey participation amongst secondary school age children in Wales is decreasing and we have a responsibility to understand and tackle this.

MOVING FORWARD
Over the last 6 months, Hockey Wales has begun a project that looks to Put School Hockey First and help us:
-
Understand Secondary School Hockey from the perspective of the teacher/facilitator/coach and from the participant.
-
Understand exactly what is happening in schools around Wales and why.
-
Understand what isn’t happening in schools around Wales and why.

Our study aims to examine all the data we currently have, ascertain the perspective of people currently involved in schools throughout Wales, and then begin to plan a roadmap towards sustainable, long term hockey participation in secondary schools.

To get a complete picture of where we need YOUR HELP if you are:
-
Schools, teachers and pupils that do participate in hockey.
-
Schools, teachers and pupils that don’t participate in hockey.
-
Schools, teachers and pupils that have never even heard of hockey.
So, this is our call to you. Be honest, be blunt and be detailed. Divulge your experiences of school sport safe in the knowledge that we will, take action and enable schools throughout Wales to provide better hockey experiences that encourage a lifetime of participation.

It is important to note that there are separate surveys for pupils and schools so please ensure you click on the correct link prior to starting the survey.

RHOI HOCI YSGOLION' GYNTA
Mae'n wych clywed aelodau o'n teulu hoci yn siarad yn hoffus am eu profiadau hoci yn yr ysgol a pha mor ddylanwadol oedd un person allweddol o ran eu penderfyniad i barhau i chwarae’r gamp am flynyddoedd i ddod.

Yn aml iawn, athro sydd ag angerdd personol dros hoci fydd y ffactor dylanwadol i grŵp o blant gael profi'r gamp, grŵp na fyddai wedi gwneud hynny fel arall efallai. Wedyn mae'r plant hyn yn mynd ymlaen i fyw bywyd o ymrwymiad i hoci, naill ai drwy chwarae, hyfforddi neu ddyfarnu.

Yn anffodus, yn ystod y blynyddoedd diwethaf, mae cyfranogiad hoci ymhlith plant oedran ysgol uwchradd yng Nghymru wedi gostwng ac mae gennym ni gyfrifoldeb i ddeall a mynd i'r afael â hyn.

SYMUD YMLAEN
Yn ystod y 6 mis diwethaf, mae Hoci Cymru wedi dechrau prosiect sy'n ceisio Rhoi Hoci Ysgol yn Gyntaf a'n helpu ni i wneud y canlynol:
-
Deall Hoci Ysgol Uwchradd o safbwynt yr athro/hwylusydd/hyfforddwr a'r cyfranogwr.
-
Deall yn union beth sy'n digwydd mewn ysgolion ledled Cymru a pham.
-
Deall beth sydd ddim yn digwydd mewn ysgolion ledled Cymru a pham.

Nod ein hastudiaeth yw edrych ar yr holl ddata sydd gennym ni ar hyn o bryd, canfod safbwynt y bobl sy'n gysylltiedig mewn ysgolion ledled Cymru ar hyn o bryd, ac wedyn dechrau cynllunio map tuag at gyfranogiad hoci cynaliadwy, tymor hir mewn ysgolion uwchradd.

I gael darlun llawn, mae arnom ni angen EICH HELP CHI os ydych chi yn:
-
Ysgolion, athrawon a disgyblion sy'n cymryd rhan mewn hoci.
-
Ysgolion, athrawon a disgyblion sydd ddim yn cymryd rhan mewn hoci.
-
Ysgolion, athrawon a disgyblion heb glywed am hoci erioed hyd yn oed.
Felly, dyma ein cais ni i chi. Byddwch yn onest, byddwch yn blwmp ac yn blaen a byddwch yn fanwl. Datgelwch eich profiadau o chwaraeon ysgol yn ddiogel gan wybod y byddwn yn gweithredu ac yn galluogi ysgolion ledled Cymru i ddarparu profiadau hoci gwell sy'n annog oes o gymryd rhan.

Mae'n bwysig nodi bod arolygon ar wahân ar gyfer disgyblion ac ysgolion felly gwnewch yn siŵr eich bod yn clicio ar y ddolen gywir cyn dechrau'r arolwg.

Os ydych chi’n ddisgybl, cwblhewch yr arolwg yma:
