Clean Sport
Hockey Wales proudly supports Clean Sport and believes that all athletes have the right to participate in hockey knowing that they, their teammates and their opposition do so without the use of prohibited or recreational substances.

Hockey Wales, and its affiliated clubs, organisations and their members, are bound by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Code and all associated Standards. Hockey Wales works closely with both WADA and UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) to conduct a comprehensive anti-doping programme that covers education, testing and results management.
Responsibility and Strict Liability
Hockey Wales adopt and fully comply with the rules set by UKAD and the International Hockey Federation (FIH) which are in line with the WADA Code. These rules can be accessed under further resources.

As an athlete YOU are responsible for any banned substance:
-
you use
-
you attempt to use
-
found in your system

Regardless of how it got there or whether you intended to cheat or not.

Supplements
Supplements can be a significant risk to athletes as it is not possible to provide a 100% guarantee that any supplement does not contain a prohibited substance. Athletes need to be responsible for knowing what supplements are, the risks associated with them and how the risks can be minimised.

Informed Sport is a global testing and certification programme for sports and nutritional supplements. This can help to reduce the risk for individuals considering using supplements.
Medication
Global DRO is an app you can use to check the status of your medication. It provides up to date information on whether your medication contains a prohibited substance.
Protect your sport
Clean sport relies on athletes and support staff speaking up and reporting any suspected doping. All reporting is completely confidential. Find out more on how to report doping at Protect Your Sport.
