Hoci Cymru is delighted to announce that Christ College Brecon have joined the journey as our U21 Women’s squad travel to Chile for the Junior World Cup.

The school will sponsor the team as they represent Wales at the ultimate showcase of the world’s brightest young hockey talent.

Held every four years, the Junior World Cup brings together 24 nations competing for glory, delivering high-stakes, high-drama action.

For our U21 Women, this tournament is about far more than sport. It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a group of young women to test themselves against global powerhouses like Argentina, Australia, Germany and the Netherlands, teams with greater resources and long-established hockey programmes.

For the Welsh squad, it is a chance to prove that passion and talent can overcome the odds.

We are thrilled to welcome Christ College Brecon along the journey, a school that has long been linked to Welsh hockey.

In recent times, Hoci Cymru has partnered with the school to improve hockey provision in mid Wales.

With a proud supporting heritage and a renowned hockey programme, Christ College Brecon support Hoci Cymru in identifying and growing talent and hosts competitive action for players across Wales.

Commenting on their involvement in Wales’ Junior World Cup campaign, the school’s Director of Hockey, Mark Ziegler, commented:

“We at Christ College Brecon are delighted to be sponsoring our U21 Women on the world stage. It’s a privilege to support a squad whose passion, determination and talent reflects everything we value within our own hockey programme.

“We wish the team every success in Chile and look forward to strengthening the connections between Welsh and Chilean hockey as this exciting partnership with Hoci Cymru continues to grow.”

Hoci Cymru’s Performance Director, Katie Glynn, added:

“It’s amazing to have yet more support for our U21 Women’s journey to Chile.

“Many people within the Welsh hockey community will have heard of Christ College Brecon courtesy of the school’s fantastic history and involvement in the sport over the years.

“Their commitment to supporting women in sport and nurturing young sporting talent make them a perfect partner as we continue to develop and support the next generation of Welsh hockey talent.”

Support for our U21 Women’s squad journey has been hugely appreciated. Without the incredible generosity of the hockey community and wider public throughout our crowdfunding campaign, our young, self-funded stars might not have been able to get to Chile.

If you’re able to donate, please join the journey and support this talented squad realise a dream and represent Wales on the global stage here
