Eirias Hockey Club had a night to remember at the Conwy Sports Awards in November, receiving fantastic recognition across multiple categories.
Gathered at Venue Cymru in Llandudno, the club’s U18 Boys and Girls teams were announced as joint winners of the Junior Sports Team of the Year award.
With a squad ranging from age 14 to 18, the Boys’ side has enjoyed a fantastic year. They started successfully in the regional qualifying tournament with two wins from two, securing their north Wales title.

After then winning all their games in the semi-final round, beating north Wales’ second-placed team along with two teams from the south, Eirias went on to play Swansea in the final. Putting up a strong fight, Eirias’ Boys were edged to the title in a sudden-death penalty shootout by Swansea on their home pitch.
The U18 Girls matched their colleagues’ efforts throughout the year, also claiming the champions title for north Wales courtesy of a 100% record which saw them score 20 and concede just once in four games.
Fantastic draws to Whitchurch and Swansea sides littered with internationals, as well as a win over Pwllheli, saw Eirias’ Girls progress from the semi-final round.
Also facing a Swansea side with home advantage, the Girls were pipped to the title after a 2-0 defeat but could hold their heads up high after a wonderful campaign.

At the Conwy Sports Awards, the sides were pitted against county league and cup champions, Llandudno Swifts U13 FC, but were jointly awarded the Junior Sports Team of the Year award.
Charlotte Williams plays a large role in this junior success, with her organisation of the U12 section at Eirias HC among other roles.
Recognised at the Conwy Sports Awards in the Volunteer of the Year category, Charlotte’s work at the club is described as Club President Tim Bkaer as “invaluable” and was given the inaugural John Roberts Memorial Award for Club Member of the Year for all her dedication and commitment to the club.
As well as running the club’s U12 section, she is a member of the coaching team for the U18 Girls, leads coaching for the U8s and organises junior tournaments, as well as coordinating club kit and running the club’s digital channels.
On top of this, Charlotte is a regular fixture in the Ladies’ second team and is the leading scorer by some distance in the current 2025 / 2026 campaign.

“Unfortunately,” commented Tim, “Charlotte was unsuccessful on this occasion, but we are sure she will be in contention for this award or something similar again in the not-too-distant future.”
Also representing Eirias HC at the Conwy Sports Awards were the Ladies’ first team in the Senior Sports Team of the Year category, after a barnstorming journey to the Women’s Trophy title this year.
After winning 22 consecutive matches, scoring 152 and conceding just eight, and being crowned North West Hockey League Division Three West champions, they qualified for the national finals of the Trophy.
Facing local rivals Bangor City, Eirias would go onto win the title courtesy of a dramatic 4-3 penalty shootout win.
It was a fantastic evening of sport in which hockey shone bright; Hoci Cymru would like to congratulate Eirias HC on the club’s fantastic work and deserved recognition.
