HOCKEY WALES TO HOST BOYS & GIRLS U18 EURO CHAMPIONSHIPS IN SWANSEA NEXT SUMMER

Hockey Wales are delighted to be announced as hosts of the 2023 EuroHockey U18 Championships II-B (Girls & Boys).

The European Hockey Federation (EHF) informed the National Governing Body yesterday that the bid to host the tournaments next summer had been successful.

The two tournaments will take place in Swansea, Wales from Sunday 9th to Saturday 15th July 2023.

Events Manager Amanda Roberts said "We are delighted to be hosting. It's a great opportunity for our U18 teams to experience playing on home soil in front of a home crowd, and to inspire the next generation of young Welsh hockey players."

"This is the first time we will host both genders at the same time for any age group. Hockey Wales are committed to gender equality and this event will provide a fantastic platform to showcase this." "We very much look forward to engaging and working with partners new and old over the next 12-months to deliver a memorable event for all."

Hockey Wales CEO Ria Burrage-Male added "For us to showcase our exciting sport, we need to provide opportunities for Welsh sporting fans to watch hockey live. This event allows us to do this."

"Hosting both boys and girls together demonstrates our long-standing position on gender parity, and our passion to support and promote both boys and girls equally. We look forward to welcoming travelling nations to Swansea and enjoying an exciting week of hockey."

Further details regarding the tournaments, including participating teams and match times, will be announced in due course.
