Scotland claim Easter Series victors against a spirited Welsh side.

Wales failed to secure a further win to secure the Easter Series title losing 3-0 in their final match against a clinical Scottish side. The game started with both teams’ trying to get ahead however the score-line remained 0-0 till the second half.

A well executed penalty corner from Scotland gave them the lead in the third quarter. Wales immediately answered with a penalty corner of their own the other end however failed to convert. Momentum shifted in Scotland’s favour by the fourth quarter and the score-line and performance ran away from Wales with two further goals conceded giving Scotland the three-goal lead to take the game and seal their overall victory in the Easter Series.

Beth Bingham, Welsh Senior Women Captain commented:

“Obviously disappointed not to win the series and get the result today, but we are a young squad coming into this. We’ve had one training session together this year so far, so a good start. Like I said, disappointed not to win, but onwards to the summer.”

Chris Duncan, Scotland Head Coach commented:

“I think it was two sides that were really young and developing and trying to play hockey in a real positive manner. Each game was a really good test. Majorly proud of our girls today, for a young side to display the maturity they displayed in their performances, something I am really proud of.”

The Series has been a resounding success in its efforts, with not only the senior women competing across the weekend, Hoci Cymru also welcomed teams from: Canada, Austria and Ulster to compete against their NAGs and Dreigiau Women.
