Hoci Cymru are thrilled to welcome Study in Wales aboard our senior women’s journey at the World Cup Qualifiers in Hyderabad, India.
Our ladies face the tournament hosts as well as Uruguay and Scotland in Group B, before knockout rounds determine which nation secures its place at the World Cup.
Having qualified courtesy of their second-placed finish in the EuroHockey Championships II last year, Wales’ senior women will be boosted by the support of Study in Wales.

This collaboration builds on the previous work the two organisations have done together, with Study in Wales having supported our senior men’s side at the 2023 World Cup.
Promoting Wales as a study destination and hub of inspiration and information for international audiences, Study in Wales is part of the Welsh Government-funded Global Wales programme which promotes Wales’ universities and colleges internationally and supports the development of international education and research partnerships.
Study in Wales forms a core part of Global Wales’ strategy to promote Wales to the world, by building partnerships, sharing study opportunities, inspiring change, and representing Wales as a country that has a strong focus on equality, diversity, and inclusion.
And Study in Wales will again join us halfway across the world as our country is once more on the global stage.
Study in Wales will be the front-of-shirt sponsor for our ladies’ qualification campaign in India, while fans can look out for their presence across Hoci Cymru’s digital channels throughout.
Meanwhile, Hoci Cymru players will act as ambassadors for Study in Wales while out in India, raising the profile of study opportunities in Wales and strengthening the links between the two countries.

Our players, as well as aiming for the biggest stage in world hockey, will also be representing their country at key functions with the education and sport sector during the tournament.
Hoci Cymru CEO, Paul Whapham, commented:
“The coming weeks bring another momentous occasion for Welsh sport, as Hoci Cymru’s senior teams represent Wales on the global stage once more.
“We’re thrilled and grateful to be collaborating with Study in Wales once again, showcasing the fantastic opportunities and environments that Wales has to offer while hopefully shining in a sporting sense, too.
“Our players are passionate about their country, so for our senior women to be representing Study in Wales in an ambassadorial way as well as pulling on the Welsh jersey with our partners on the front is brilliant.”
Tom Woodward, Assistant Director for Universities Wales, said:
“Global Wales is incredibly proud to support Wales’ women’s hockey team as they compete in India. This Study in Wales sponsorship reflects our commitment to championing Welsh excellence on the world stage and marks another important step in strengthening the deep and growing relationship between Wales and India.”
