Top international hockey is returning to Cardiff this summer, as the National Hockey Centre hosts both the senior women and men.

At the end of the month, our two senior sides overlap as the women host Malaysia and the men host Chile.
Then, in August, our senior ladies face South Africa in their second match series of the summer.

Kicking things off will be the senior ladies taking on Malaysia in the first of three meetings.
It will be the second time in three years that the ladies face Malaysia in a match series. In the summer of 2024, Wales put together three strong performances to come away with two draws and a victory against the same opposition, with first-quarter strikes from Rachel Goodwin and Freya Diamond earning their side a 2-0 victory in the series’ only win.
Meanwhile, the senior men will face a four-match series against Chile as they prepare for August’s FIH Hockey World Cup in Belgium and the Netherlands.

It hasn’t been long since the two sides met; Chile were hosts as Wales claimed third in the tournament and a place at the World Cup in March’s qualifiers.
Chile was the senior men’s opening fixture in Santiago, with a rollercoaster of a 2-2 draw setting the foundation for an unforgettable campaign. Two goals in two minutes from Chile looked set to win the game after Nic Morgan’s early opener in that one, only for Gareth Furlong to produce one of several memorable moments in Chile to equalise late on.
Expect drama in this one.

And in August, the women return to the National Hockey Centre for an intriguing three-match clash with South Africa.
Some of the women’s squad will be accustomed to their opposition, with graduates from the U21s squad that competed at the FIH Junior World Cup last year having secured a 2-0 victory against South Africa on their way to a brilliant 14th-placed finish in Santiago.
“It’s a hugely exciting summer for Welsh hockey,” commented Hoci Cymru’s Director of Performance, Katie Glynn.
“These tests are sure to provide great spectacles for the fans, with our senior ladies facing tough challenges against teams where there’s a bit of history there.
“Meanwhile, the senior men are preparing for another historic summer, taking on the Hockey World Cup for just the second time, and these tests present another really stern challenge as we build towards that milestone.
“It’s going to be a brilliant period at the National Hockey Centre with plenty of top international quality on show; so please join us!"
Tickets are on sale for all of these games, with fans able to make the most of top-class, international hockey making its way back to the Welsh capital.
We look forward to seeing as many of the hockey community as possible, with tickets free for U17s, £8 for concessions, and £12 for adults!
