Wales' senior hockey teams secure European promotion

Wales' senior hockey teams will play in the European top flight of competition in 2027, when the tournament comes to London. 

The women will compete in A division for the first time in 24 years as they secured a silver medal in the Women's EuroHockey Championship II in Poland.

Wales' men will also play in Europe's 2027 top flight after the became champions of the EuroHockey Championship II in Portugal, defeating Ireland in a penalty shootout in the final.

Both teams also secured a place in the World Cup qualifiers next year. 

Betsan Thomas and Jacob Draper were both awarded player of the tournament in their respective competitions.
