Why Hoci Cymru Membership prices are changing

Hoci Cymru Members will experience several changes to their membership next year, including new benefits while we will continue to support our clubs across Wales and the development of our sport.

Following last year’s EGM and as a result of the reduction in funding, we’re introducing a new membership structure that ensures investment going back into Welsh hockey. This will result in an increased Membership fee.

While this is a difficult decision to make, we feel that it is necessary in order to try and make the sport sustainable, reinvest into grassroots hockey and make improvements across the board.

To support families and individuals with this change, Hoci Cymru will be setting up hardship funds, while payment options will be made available.

Changes in Membership are all about designing a better structure to support everyone in the hockey community to build a better future for hockey in Wales.

Included in these changes are enhanced benefits such as digital member cards and retail discounts on day to day and sporting activities, as well as stronger insurance and competition access.

Hoci Cymru CEO, Paul Whapham, commented:

“We are introducing a whole host of changes to membership that will enable us to maintain the existing levels of hockey across Wales. These changes are designed to go on to better support the hockey family amid a challenging time for us all.

“We understand that an increase in Membership fees is daunting, but it will allow us to implement a better structure to support our network of clubs, grow the game from the grassroots, and enable our community to thrive.

“We look forward to providing further details shortly.”
