After a period of training, competitions and assessment the Hockey Wales National Age Group programmes have now selected their squads for 2023. Both programmes have selected 36 players who will now prepare for a busy summer of hockey with the U18 European Championships II.
Between September and January players have been pushing hard to showcase their ability in our Regional Performance Centres. Hockey Wales would like to thank all players and staff for their hard work during this period and congratulations to the players selected.
Elliot Foweraker, Girls Programme Head Coach, said:
“We are very grateful to all the players who competed so hard for selection places. Selection is always tough and as a staff coaching team we have been so impressed with the level of ability on offer in the pathway.
We are excited about what is to come in this cycle and with a great schedule of training and test matches we will continue to push on our talent pool and push to be ready to compete this summer for a home European Championships, which no doubt will be a memorable experience for all!”
Mike Williamson, Boys Programme Head Coach, said:
“There is a wide range of ages in this group, but all have shown potential, focus and skill.
We are looking forward to seeing them work together as a squad.”
Congratulations to those selected, it is a major achievement to be selected into Hockey Wales National Age Group programmes and players should be proud of this milestone.
