Hockey Wales are delighted to announce the selection of Sarah Jones, Rupert Shipperley and Jacob Draper for GB’s FIH 2024 Olympic Qualification events in Oman and Valencia between the 13th -21st January 2024.
Following the conclusion of Hockey at the Pan American Games and the African Hockey Road to Paris 2024, 5 men's and women's teams have now gained direct qualification to the Paris Olympic Games 2024 as Continental Champions. A remaining 16 teams will battle it out for qualification to the XXXIII Olympic Summer Games via qualification tournaments held in Oman and Valencia.
The tournaments will be GB’s final opportunity to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
All three Welsh athletes were part of GB Hockey’s Olympic Squads for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and will be looking to book their slot for this summer in Paris.
Sarah jones is returning to the GB Squad following a hamstring injury whilst Rupert Shipperley and Jacob Draper will be looking to build off their recent success in the FIH Pro League event in Argentina.
The GB women will face Canada, Spain and Malaysia whilst the GB men will face Pakistan, Malaysia and China for spots in the semi-finals.
