Licences now live!
Coach and Umpire licences are now available to add to your Sport80 profile. These free, role-identifying licences are required to ensure Hoci Cymru and clubs hold accurate records of the hockey workforce across Wales. Members who participate in multiple capacities (i.e. Player and a coach) can now easily showcase this within their Sport80 profile.

From this point forward, holding the correct licence will be treated as a core eligibility requirement for competition involvement (where relevant to your role). If you coach or umpire, you must add the appropriate licence to your profile to remain eligible.

Looking ahead, in line with the Club Framework and Minimum Operating Standards, these licences will evolve to include qualification checks. Coaches and umpires will be required to upload and verify the relevant awards for their role within Sport80.

This is a necessary step to strengthen governance, protect participants, and ensure the quality of our workforce is properly recognised. It will also enable Hoci Cymru to identify development needs more precisely and deliver more targeted, high-impact CPD to support and upskill coaches and umpires across Wales.

Qualifications
Uploading your qualifications to Sport80 is becoming essential

To support safer, more consistent delivery of hockey across Wales, members are encouraged to upload their relevant qualifications to Sport80. This helps Hoci Cymru and clubs maintain clear, accurate records and ensures we can evidence the right credentials are in place for those delivering the game.

Looking ahead, verified qualifications on Sport80 will become increasingly important, and will be used to support eligibility for coaching and officiating activity within competitions and club environments, in line with the Club Framework and Minimum Operating Standards. Uploading your evidence now will help make sure you are fully prepared as these requirements are introduced.

How to upload your qualification evidence (Sport80)
-
Log in to your Sport80 account.
-
Navigate to Profile.
-
Select the Qualifications tab.
-
Choose the type of qualification you want to evidence by uploading a document for approval, for example:
-
Umpiring qualification
-
Coaching qualification
-
Safeguarding qualification
-
First Aid qualification
-
-
Upload your document and submit it for review.

What happens next
A Hoci Cymru admin will review the document you upload. If it meets the requirements, it will be approved and shown as valid on your profile. Documents can be historical (within a set timeframe) depending on the qualification type (time limits will be confirmed for each qualification). Once approved, the qualification will remain valid for the applicable number of years, after which updated evidence will be needed to keep it current.
