Chief Executive Officer
Paul Whapham
Paul joined the National Governing Body for hockey in Wales in March 2023, as a highly experienced, successful, and well-regarded leader with over 20 years’ experience working in sport.
He had previously been with the Ospreys for over eight years as well as working with Halo leisure and Swansea Council.
Paul has held multiple non-executive board member roles and most recently spent 4 years on the board of the Welsh Sports Association.
He was born in Swansea and studied at both Cardiff Metropolitan University and The University of Bristol.
Within his role as CEO Paul, plays an active role on the Board of Great Britain Hockey
When not in work Paul can be found coaching girls’ football or watching as much live sport as possible.

Joe Gage
I'm Joe Gage, a dedicated sports enthusiast with a background in sport development. I've had the pleasure of working with Ospreys in the Community for 7 years before moving to Hoci Cymru in 2023.
Currently, I am captain for my rugby team Aberavon who play in the Super Rygbi Cymru League.
When I'm not working or on the pitch, you can catch me with a coffee in hand, listening to a podcast while enjoying a nice stroll!

Governance and Compliance Manager
Alice Gregory
Alice began her journey with the organisation in 2012 when she joined the Young Ambassador Programme. Over her nine years as a Young Ambassador, she achieved numerous milestones: becoming a Platinum YA, a member of the Steering Group, a WHUA Technical Official, and the first Youth Representative on the Hoci Cymru Board.
Alice holds a BSc in Sports Management from Cardiff Metropolitan University and an LLM in Sports Law from Sheffield Hallam University, which she completed while working part-time for the organisation. After graduating in September 2023, Alice transitioned to a full-time role with Hoci Cymru as Projects Manager. In her current position, Alice oversees grant-funded projects, the YA Programme, and DBS processes. She also supports the EDI working group, Welsh language initiatives, policy development, and occasionally films and edits videos for Hoci Cymru.
In her spare time, Alice enjoys staying active by going to the gym and training for hammer throw. She also loves spending time with her friends and family.

Competitions & People Development Manager
Amanda Roberts
Amanda (a.k.a. Bobs) joined the organisation in 2012 and is the first point of contact for competitions, events, coaching, umpiring, volunteering and the Hoci Cymru website.
Amanda played for Swansea LHC and has represented Wales at both club and international level.
Outside of hockey, you will find her spending time and getting creative with her daughter, especially playing 'taxi' to her various activities, touring with her caravan, and spending time with family and friends.

Hockey Development Officer - South West
Chelsea Jenkins
Chelsea is the Development Officer for South-West Wales. Her role includes communicating and supporting local schools' clubs and communities and offering new and exciting opportunities to grow hockey.
​
She has previously studied Sport Management at the University of Trinity Saint David's. Chelsea has worked with NPT PASS coaching children with a range of abilities and disabilities and thus, building relationships with schools and parents and guardians. Also, she worked in an additional learning needs school aiding pupils with their mental health and wellbeing through physical activity.
​
Outside of work, Chelsea spends her time with friends and family attending and travelling to sporting events from triathlons to Motorsports.

Hockey Development Officer - South East
Harriet Barker
As the Hockey Development Officer for the East, Harriet is dedicated to ensuring that as many people as possible have the opportunity to play hockey and ignite a passion for the sport. In this role, Harriet creates and implements programs that encourage participation across all age groups and skill levels, fostering a love for hockey within the community.
In addition to her professional responsibilities, Harriet is currently pursuing a PhD part-time, specializing in childhood gross motor development. This academic pursuit complements her work, allowing her to apply practical research to enhance development programs and better support young players.
Outside of work Harriet spends her weekends playing for Swansea HC and enjoys spending quality time with friends and family exploring all the best brunch spots in Cardiff.

Business Support Manager
Jane Price
Jane is the first point of contact for general enquiries, finances, Sport Wales National Centre facility bookings and registration of members via Sport80. She also provides general assistance with national competitions and events as well as administrative support to the CEO with governance, HR, recruitment, minutes and paperwork for Board and General Meetings.
Jane played for Porthcawl LHC / Pontypridd HC and has represented Wales in several EHF indoor club competitions. She has also held several administrative roles at club, county and regional level and a former member of the South Wales Women’s Competitions group. She is a Technical Official and has judged/officiated at various FIH and EHF international and club (outdoor and indoor) tournaments, currently a member of the WHUA, Treasurer of the South Wales Youth Hockey Association and Treasurer and Trustee of Friends of Welsh Hockey.
Outside of hockey Jane enjoys spending time with family and friends.
